Do you dread every hair wash because your long hair is difficult to untangle and breaks very easily? From now on, conditioner should be part of your hair routine. Having the right conditioner will not only put an end to those tedious washes, but you'll also have softer, more radiant hair.

The role of a conditioner

Also known as "conditioner", conditioner is a surface care product that is usually applied between the shampoo and the mask. It is used to detangle the hair, beautifying it by giving it shine, suppleness and volume. As it acts only on the surface, its application time is very short: about 3 to 5 minutes. Today, there are several kinds of conditioners to satisfy all hair types: long, short, dry, oily, straight, wavy, coloured hair...

A conditioner for a type of hair

The secret to healthy hair is above all the use of products adapted to its nature. For two women who both have long hair, they will not necessarily use the same conditioner if one has bleached hair and the other has coloured hair. For long, dry hair, choose conditioners based on avocado oil, shea butter, argan or jojoba. They have nourishing properties. Opt for conditioners without sulfate and/or silicones, because while these molecules give the impression of smoother, shinier hair, they actually suffocate your hair and make it even more fragile. If you have fine, straight hair, avoid conditioners that weigh your hair down and choose a lightweight conditioner that adds volume instead. For wavy, frizzy hair, choose a moisturizing conditioner for wavy hair. And if your long hair is thick, you can opt for an ultra-nourishing conditioner in spray form without rinsing. Finally, for oily hair, choose a light conditioner, but avoid applying it to the scalp.

How to use a conditioner

A conditioner can be used daily, as long as the correct dose is applied. Once hair has been washed and towel-dried, apply a small amount of conditioner to the entire length of your hair, excluding the scalp. Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes. Gently comb your long hair with a wide-tooth comb to detangle it without breaking it. Rinse well with lukewarm water and finish with cold water to close the scales of your hair.
