I have a couple of pounds of dry hops, the kind a brewery would use. Should I use the same weight as the pellets? These seem alot dryer than pellets. Thanks

I have a couple of pounds of dry hops, the kind a brewery would use. Should I use the same weight as the pellets? These seem alot dryer than pellets. Same stuff. Just weigh and use. Pellets in many cases will give a fresher aroma, and a higher utilization. I still like using leaf hops over pellets... Cheers, Mike

I have a couple of pounds of dry hops, the kind a brewery would use. Should I use the same weight as the pellets? These seem alot dryer than pellets. Dry hops are hops added after the end of the boil; it doesn't refer to the format the hops come in. Whether your hops are pellets, plugs, or the whole leaf hops you probably have, you can use the same amount by weight. If they're *dried* hops, or older aged hops that haven't been vacuum sealed and kept cool, they may be stale. BTW, many breweries use pellet hops. ben
