The celebration of Pascha is not the re-creation of a historical event. In the early church local churches celebrated Pascha at different times. The idea is not to follow some accurate historical date like the 4th of July. For this reason the Council of Nicea tried to establish a uniform time when all the Christian churches should celebrate Pascha, but the Orthodox threw a monkey wrench into the formula - to be different from the West. So, after all the years, the only way to solve this stupidity is to settle on a uniform date. The first Sunday after the 14th of April, as long as it isn't the Jewish Passover, has been strongly recommended. You are wrong Nick. Passover IS a historical God ordained date, read the OT. The Syrians and Antiochians had it right, it was the West that was wrong. The original celebration was as was done in the East, not the West. Christ instituted the Holy Eukarist and died ON A HISTORICAL GOD ORDAINED DATE and was raised on the following Sunday. Do you understand WHY that is? That Sunday was used in Judaism to calculate Shavout (our Pentecost). It was also the day the High Priest presented the Omer for acceptence to God in The Temple, as Christ did when He presented His Omer to His Father for acceptence.  It seems that as Chirtianity veered of from Judaism into gentile Christianity, it went more and more askew...I say it is time to go back to the way it was originally instituted by Christ and the early Church IF we really want to be orthodox about it..

Rabbinical Judaism changed the method by which it reckons Passover, after the time of Christ but before the Council of Nicaea. So it's not relevant to Christianity when the Jews celebrate Passover, today.
