morality can evolution explain morality?

Jim...I'm curious about what you think. Do you think any kind of morality can be independent of the mind in the first place? Doesn't it take language to even conceive of morals? Doesn't that make morality a product of the mind, and therefore cannot be _object_ive? Did morality exist on this planet before humans evolved? That's ridiculous. Do you even know what morals are? Clearly not, as no one in this group can even agree what atheism is. Morality is knowing right from wrong. Where does language come into play there? Behavior isn't dependent on language. The highest form of morality is internalized, not external like religion. Why is that such a hard concept for people to grasp?

Behavior isn't dependent on language. Behaviour is another issue. But some behaviour is dependant on language, some is not. I disagree. Behavior is the primary issue when it comes to morality. Morality governs behavior. It doesn't govern language

There are processes involved in coming to know _object_ive facts about the world that are independent of mind, AFAICS. Can you give me an example of these processes? Assuming of course that there *are* _object_ive facts about the world. My belief that there really is a burner on the stove that is lit, results in my reluctance to put my hand on it, _base_d on my view of how I would feel if I did it. But the moral _object_ivist might say the same sort of thing. It depends on what you believe to be _object_ive facts about the world. Jim07D5

And what is a moral fact? Things like: the nazi genocide was wrong. That is quite historically particular. I'm not sure what you are saying here. IMO The nazi genocide would have been wrong in any period of history. Was your point that I didn't give a moral *rule*? It's the difference between a particular and a universal; that's all. As you have said elsewhere, some degree of specificity about the situation has to be described. But nazi genocide seems to be a particular. I quite agree. BUt IMO it's an example of a moral fact because it's _object_ively true, ansolutely true and not true relative to the observer as it were. - Ukryj cytowany tekst -- Poka? cytowany tekst - Maybe now we can think about how _object_ive morality would work
