http://www.jonesgang.co.uk/home/small_faces.htm The Small Faces, one of the most acclaimed and influential mod bands of the 60's are to have their musical achievement recognised with a Westminster City Council Green Plaque. They will share the plaque with their impresario manager, Don Arden, who sadly passed away recently. Fittingly, Arden first met the band in his Carnaby Street offices, and The Small Faces became very much part of the world-famous Carnaby Street scene. Kenney Jones, Small Faces band member, It's great to see the Small Faces being officially recognised at this stage of my life especially when my latest band The Jones Gang had a No 1 in America last year. There's a sense of reflection, when I think back to everything we did in those days and how the Small Faces was responsible for creating much of the mod music and fashion revolution in the UK. I guess although I'm lucky enough to still be gigging all over the world, I can certainly say there will always be part of me back in Carnaby Street . The official plaque unveiling ceremony will take place on Tuesday 4th September at 2pm, at The Puma store, 52-55 Carnaby Street, with Westminster Council's Cabinet Member for Planning, Cllr Robert Davis, officiating at the unveiling. Guests will include former band members Kenney Jones and Jimmy Winston as well as Don Arden's son, David. David Arden, How marvellous that my Father and the Small Faces are being recognised in this way, together and separately during their careers they gave a lot of enjoyment to many people. Don would have considered the Plaque an Honour, for me it could not have come at a better time with my Dads recent passing . Cllr Davis said: I am happy that Westminster is home to such an eclectic range of high-profile individuals whom we can officially recognise with our own Green Plaque scheme. The Small Faces were indeed one of the 'faces' of the swinging sixties and seventies and it is fitting that they will forever be remembered in the 60's Mecca, Carnaby Street . A public celebration is also scheduled for Saturday 8th September, from 12pm until 4pm, with a second unveiling accompanied by live performances from Mod artists; The Small Fakers, Darron J Connett and Redtrack.
