Sasha.... I don't think this is the least bit frivolous at all. This is a concern you have... As far as the kids? I would just sit them down and explain what has happened to you, how this happened, and why. [meaning your appearance] I am one that doesn't believe in wrapping children in a cocoon, or some big poofy bubble type atmosphere. I think we really do children a dis-service when we shield them from too much of what this life/world is all about. I think we have to do it in a manner that doesn't frighten them...but informs them, and prepares them for life after they go out into the world on their own someday. My little grand daugher was only 5 when I was dx. Her Mom/Dad sat her down and explained to her a basic understanding of what had happened, and was happening as a result of my taking the medicine to make grandma better Just last year...we sat on my back patio spending some quiet time together after picking weeds in my rose garden. She was telling me her mama had told her that I had breast cancer [which she whispered to me, as though we weren't the only two sitting there] She said to me it's a good thing for me to know..so I can take care of myself later when I get older, huh grandma? going onto to say her mama had told her that. I told her yes sweetie it is...but one thing okay? don't feel the need to whisper about it..if you speak up...somone else might learn something from you also. I would say don't be afraid of their reaction...Kida are far stronger and smarter then we sometimes give them credit for...They do better sometimes then we do with these situations. They have a tendency to see it in alot simplier terms then we do...Ahh..the innocense of a child. A truly wonderful thing. take care there dear..
