Hello all. A few months ago someone asked here about Kanata hair salons and there were a few replies for that posting. One was suggesting a salon @ Kanata Centrum mall. I got a good cut there for $50- with the owner. I wasn't blown away but it was better than many others around. When I returned, I got a really creepy cut at the same place with a different stylist for $35-. I had to tell the guy to stop cutting my hair and asked for the owner. The owner came and apologized and told me that I should of come to him instead. What does this tell you? You get what you pay for?! I got two superb haircuts at Scissors previously. Both for $50- and up. (Cut and _style_ only) They have two prices. One for $41- and if you want a director, than it's $51-. I had my cuts with a director both times. No disappoinments there. Since than I've talked to a few people who are in the hair business and they instructed me which shops not to go to because about 85% of the stylists are newbies, recently out of school with no or very little experience. People warned me to stay away from Classy Image @ Bells Corners. There are shops that book 30-minutes for a cut & _style_ including consultation. These shops run a production line and one should not expect quality work at these places. They should book anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour for a good job. I was also told not to expect a decent cut below $50- in Kanata! All the good, experienced stylists are in those shops. Most in Downtown Ottawa. I'd like to hear about your experiences. Did you ever get a decent cut & _style_ for less than $40- in Kanata??? How much would you pay for a great, above average haircut? Can anyone afford Rinaldos and Scissors all the time?

Its not so much the shop people should concentrate on but rather the particular hair stylist... if you find one you like stick with him/her. By luck I found a great place in Vancouver the first time I tried. It was downtown and located between my place of work and condo... I was able to pop in at lunch for a cut and still have time to get home for lunch and back to work in time. The guy gave a great cut, was consistent, and didn't leave my head feeling like I needed to shower immediately... with all those tiny bits of hair all over the place. The fellow I'm going to now up in norther Quebec... I've been going to off and on for years. I'm not too happy with him but I suppose out of habit and the fact we know each other I keep going. He leaves my head full of tiny bits of hair... doesn't brush it out well enough. And often once my hair has grown out a bit I notice uneven lengths in a couple of spots that I have to trim up myself. I'm considering switching. I can't believe I responded to this... argh... but then it is 50 degrees farenheit up here today and a bit wet outside.
