recipe Looking for a recipe
I'm looking for a recipe and don't know what it's called.  I had it at the local Democrat buffet.  It was in a 9 x 13 pan with granola (I think!) on the bottom, then a _layer_ of Cool Whip and then a _layer_ of Jello with fruit in it.  But it seems to me if you pour the warm jello on the cool whip it would go through it or melt it or compress it or something.  I believe the jello was poured on warm because it was perfectly flat.  Boy was it good!  Ever heard of anything like that?   Sounds like something out of the 50s, but two different women made the dessert.  One had sliced strawberries in strawberry jello and the other had banana slices.   If no one has such a recipe I'll try it anyway, but I'm wondering if there is some kind of trick to pouring the jello on top of the cool whip without ruining the cool whip.  Maybe you freeze it in the pan first. Dalin Maybe Jello is allowed to cool and poured on before it has set. Also Cool-whip could be almost frozen. Lou

Dalin I think you mix the Jello with 1/4 less water, beat the Coolwhip into the hot Jello and when it sets it separates...but don't quote me! Norma

Lou It would have to be something like that.  But jello doesn't pour very well unless it is quite warm.  I'm thinking maybe freeze the cool whip first.   Dalin

Norma But I've made cool whip and jello pies before and it doesn't separate when you mix them.  I didn't know any of the women or who made it and there was really no time to ask anyone.  But I really liked the dessert better than strawberry shortcake! Dalin Is there a law that the jello goes OVER the Cool Whip?  Maybe it would be easier to put it UNDER the cool whip and let it set before putting the Cool Whip on. ;- ) Another thing you could do is let the jello cool completely and just begin to set before spooning (not pouring) it onto the Cool Whip. Idea # 3 is that, if  you gave me all those ingredients to eat, I wouldn't care is they were all scrambled.  It sounds yummy! BJ - Ukryj cytowany tekst -- Poka? cytowany tekst -
