NY POST/PAGE SIX.... NOW that Halle Berry has an Oscar, she wants Ron Perelman to cough up more cash for her Revlon ads - but the beleaguered billionaire isn't biting. Sources say Berry made Perelman hopping mad by asking for a raise when the two ran into each other at Elton John's In_style_-sponsored Oscars bash. When Berry, Oscar in hand, bumped into Perelman, he congratulated her and said how happy he was that Berry's a Revlon model. Of course, now you'll have to pay me more, Berry responded. According to our spy, Perelman turned purple with rage and stalked off. The next day he instructed his lawyers to figure out how to make the most of Berry's coup, yet still keep her indentured at her current rate for as long as possible. Insiders say her contract, which has about a year to run, isn't as lucrative as her predecessor Cindy Crawford's was. No doubt Berry feels she's worth at least as much as Crawford now. She was underpaid anyway, sniffs one insider. But another insider said, No way is Ron going to give her more money. Berry's publicist, Karen Samfilippo, and her manager, Vincent Cirrincione, both had no comment. We're delighted for Halle, and she remains under contract with Revlon, says Revlon rep Catherine Fisher. On Friday, Revlon took out a full-page ad in Women's Wear Daily congratulating Berry on her triumph and trumpeting their association. Berry, 33, started off as a model after winning beauty pageants in high school. Her first acting role was on the short-lived TV drama Living Dolls, set in the modeling world. She signed with Revlon a few years ago when they decided to ditch Crawford. Berry has said that her Revlon ads don't help in Hollywood, where directors are tempted to dismiss her as just another pretty face, but she continues to do them because she feels it's important for black women to be portrayed as beautiful in the mass media. But Village Voice scribe Michael Musto once complained that Revlon made Berry look too white in the ads, noting, They've made her even lighter than Ava Gardner in 'Show Boat!' Meanwhile, one Hollywood insider tells us the reason Berry thanked Oprah Winfrey in her acceptance speech was that the daytime queen was the one who paid the settlement of Berry's 2000 hit-and-run case, for which she received three years probation. Halle didn't have the kind of money it took to pay off the victim, says our source. SEND EMAIL TO
