For about a year I started using a flat iron (due to very thick hair that was unmanageable)  with no idea how to use it properly (heat protectant creams and such). After a year had gone by I realised that my hair just needed to be thinned with thinning shears, so I ordered a pair and now my hair is straight/wavy and manageable, but is still rather dry. So my question is, how long do you think before my natural oils start coming back?

So my question is, how long do you think before my natural oils start coming back? Not until you stop using that flat iron since you are literally IRONING your hair so dry. Try adding in several deep conditioning treatments on a weekly basis including but not limited too hot oil, Rene Furterer, Ouidad, Hamadi Shea Mask, Ojon.. etc that might help Stevie
